More info and history about this designer:

Born in Finland, Anna Greta Eker started her career as an industrial designer before migrating to Norway in the 1950s. She married Erling Christoffersen, who headed the silver workshop at PLUS. She became part of the PLUS silver workshop, officially named Norway Silver Designs. Her design focus changed to jewelry at that time. There she worked alongside Christoffersen and another notable designer named Tone Vigeland.

Some of Eker’s work has been described as “portable sculpture,” and with good reason. Her eye-catching Scandinavian silver pieces often have abstract flowing lines or geometric symmetry that is very sculptural. Most of her works are hand-hammered as well.

After PLUS closed in the 1970s, Eker started a workshop where she continued to produce silver jewelry for an undetermined time. She died in 2002.

Anna Greta Eker - Identification
Jewelry designed by Anna Greta Eker is identified by the marks AGE or AG Eker. Pieces made while working at the PLUS arts center will also be marked ND (for Norway Silver Designs). The majority of her jewelry designs were executed using sterling silver.

Ring designs are some of the most prevalent Eker works. They range from simple Modernist designs to more complex geometric styles. One of the most popular was her “Jester” ring, which came in two different versions and a coordinating bracelet. Her unusual “Buzz” ring consists of a spiraling design and also has a matching bracelet and earrings.

Some of Eker’s pieces include hand-blown glass elements that were also made at PLUS. Others incorporate semi-precious gemstones, some of which are uncut, or wooden elements. These include sculptural necklaces with silver-wrapped agates and necklaces with dangling fringe comprised of wooden disks.
